My Butcher and Me!

When I was a little girl, appa used to visit us twice or thrice a year. Whenever he comes, he will take me and anna in his bullet to a nearby butcher shop, I used to keenly listen to the conversations my appa had with the butcher! He will instruct the butcher about the exact portion of the meat he prefers and he will also say what we will be cooking. That way even after my father went back to his workplace we still preferred the same butcher my father chose once! The engagement, the conversation and the consistent meet-ups usually evolves into a meaningful relationship! Even when my mother Anandhi Venugopal used to send my brother Anandha Rajan , he used to come back home saying “bhai enna thambi romba naala mutton vaangala nu ketaaru! (Bhai asked why didn’t we buy mutton for so long) Such was the emotion back then! But once my brother started buying mutton, I hardly visited a butcher in chennai! Should have been more than 30 years I ever spoke to a butcher in Chennai! But here is my

Woman Entrepreneurs – Learn to Prioritize, Challenge your limitations!

Not many men are asked this question, “How do u manage work and family?” But if you are a woman, there is a high probability that you were posed with the same question over and over! I was recently in a women entrepreneurs’ summit and asked few of them about the gender bias they had to face, the following were listed. Cooking, taking care of the house which includes organising things, cleaning, maintaining budget for the family, networking with relatives, children, in-laws, and the list seemed to be a never ending one. In my previous article on women entrepreneurs’ series, I asked few questions which could have been triggers to venture into something new! But are there some challenges which is limiting you to perform? Woman are emotionally strong and each of us have the capacity to hold our head high during crisis. We all need a mentor, someone who can support and encourage us! Remember when you are looking for a mentor, he/ she must be able to unconditionally motivate you des

WOMEN ENTREPRENEUR – ARE YOU THE ONE?

Are you someone who worked before and had to quit for some reason, or someone who always wanted to work but felt there was no push, or someone who has the strong urge to start own enterprise but don't know What to do and How to do? Well the happy news is that many of us fall in your category then! In this series of People Development, this column is dedicated for women entrepreneurship. There are five crucial questions you need to answer before you begin: 1. What are you passionate about and interested in? 2. What would you prefer - Working from home or otherwise? 3. What stops you from not doing what you want to do? 4. What are the obstacles that are under your control? 5. How much can you invest? For a woman who decides to either move to her husband's place after marriage or take a break after pregnancy or for those independent women who love to explore and travel or those who just love the comfort of their home, entrepreneurship is a way to lead a more

Random thoughts at night, A silent kill

How life has changed... from eagerly waiting to be loved to be desperate of finding someone to love! What has happened to the love of my life? Some thoughts literally pierce my heart like a knife! I always had the attention of my father Until I married this Man,  This Man who was more than everything else but has time changed or just my thoughts rather? Where are the days when someone admired me I now lost my voice, my soul still alive Deep inside is a cry which only I hear No i don't want to cry aloud, My children are still asleep That moment when i see them sleep This moment is the most peaceful one For a moment I have no other thought And then this insecure moment starts creeping in What happened to the man, who gave me all joy Now i have none to share my pain We find each other so different so different from what i have seen has it something to do with time or will time change this presumed notion I have umpteen though

Comeback as a Trainer, Life Skill Coach, Training Manager

A Small recap of life after Barry-Wemiller International Resources which I still consider is the organization which helped me in understanding that my real forte lies in 'TRAINING, SKILL DEVELOPMENT & EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT'. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Had taken a break from career, for almost 5 years now, yet tried to stay connected in the field of training by engaging in voluntary activities with UNICEF, Sukma and also organizing events like Tulika (A series of competition viz., rangoli, mural painting, arts&craft, Anand Mela, etc aimed at integrating the public to the concept of socialization who once were engulfed within their households due to naxal activities and social set-up) & Summer Camp at porta-cabin 'Murthonda' in Sukma. Later Alex Paul Menon, my husband got transferred to Raipur in couple of months after the abduction episode, serving only 8 months

The Husband Pledge

Image
The Husband Pledge is an oath of love to the Dear Man you are married to. It is commonly recited by wife in person at romantic events, especially after shopping, and during Babysitting, Wedding Anniversary and Birthday Celebrations.  It is rarely found composed and here i have compiled the "HUSBAND PLEDGE" for your reference! Well, I have used My Husband's Name, please ensure to change that into your hubby's name (LOL) :P Alex Paul Menon is my husband and all his relatives are my relatives too. I love my husband and I am proud of his unique and varied inheritance. I shall always strive to be worthy of it. I shall give his parents, relatives and all friends respect and treat everyone with courtesy. To my husband and my children, I pledge my devotion.  In their well-being and prosperity alone lies my happiness. :) World's Greatest Husband :)

To you, My Cubby Angel Every morning, My first sight is your face, Your innocent smile and your hazy eyes. As you try to open those sparkling eyes, Wiping the early morning mist... Crawling like a baby, a naughty cub! Roaring, like a tiger, as you wake Beginning the day with a hot coffee Licking your lustrous lips, watching TV As you freshen up, splashing water all over In the bubbles of soap and fragrance of shampoo You seem so divine like a cubby angel! All dressed for the new day, my Tiger. A quick breakfast with your incessant phone calls, Kissing me good bye, as you spring in your car, Waving you all success, as I wish you a great day. Standing at the doorway until the sight of you fades! As you leave for the day, the reckoning starts. Awaiting for your return, planning for the chores, Preparing a good meal, thinking about you, With love as an ingredient, adding more value! After a long wait, the sound of your hurried steps... As you gobble the meal,
