Biotechnology boom! education doom??

Well,in a country like India,Biotechnology is big hit with new companies comin in and research works bloomin like the random growth of bacteria...
But not al the students find it comfortable copin with the education and courses tauht to them in the colleges..
Usually, most of the students select courses based on their interest in the subject or on the job opportunities available in their fields of interest.. so did i!
BUT... why do many biotechnologists (like me) take up some other profession- mostly IT rather than biotech??? IS the reason is lack of interest???? Definitely not..
Then are we to blame the college or faculty?? NO NO... there's just one simple reason.. "LACK OF AWARENESS" when i was in my colleg, i was very much occupied with other activities that i never read newspapers or even watch news.. thou many said BIOTECH's gonna boom.. i insisted to stay up in IT.. only reason.. you're paid more.. but that's not the actual case! once we do higher studies like M.Tech., M.S., Ph.D, or even MBA.. we've greater oppurtunities to get recruited in the top biotech firms.. but the problem lies in the projects we select..
these days ppl approach various researh institutions or laboratories for readymade projects.. from this very point, the innovating skill in every individual is smashed.. goes into encryption.. when we innovate, create our own project proposals-only then we can give a new insight to our researching capabilities.. so it's always better to take up the interest in efficient thinking and effectively innovating.. i'm sure it'll take us up to great heights! Subject knowledge is important, so does hands-on practice. This policy holds good not only for BIotechnologists but for all other technologists, engineers and professionals in other domains! all the best!
Work hard to gain sucess!

there's no room for innovative thinkers in biotechnology, as far as India is concerned.. the more the exposure, the more the dimensional thinking.. so its upto the transparency of knowledge outsourcing from developed nations, to furnish technically sound professionals in biotechnology..

I have read your blog. I could see only emotions and helpless cribbing of a person who has wasted 4 years learning biotechnology.
In India there is nothing called choosing because ____ are not choosers. In my experience i can say that its one of the most costliest and boring passtime of the government.
A quick from this mortal nobody can be a "playing god".Its time for the biotechnocrats to pay their penalty through their futile experiments.

You just reminded me of an incident that happened back in '07. It was about a year after i passed out of college. We friends met at marina beach. While all others were busy discussing what could still be done about their career in biotechnology, i was busy digging the sand like a child does. Once i made the sand level again, one of my friend asked, wtf you think you are doing here. Why dont you give us some inputs, huh?

I replied i already gave my opinion. What do you think i just buried? Thats nothing but the 'Goddamn Biotechnology' i studied in college!
