WOMEN ENTREPRENEUR – ARE YOU THE ONE?
Are you someone who worked before
and had to quit for some reason, or someone who always wanted to work but felt
there was no push, or someone who has the strong urge to start own enterprise
but don't know What to do and How to do?
Well the happy news is that many
of us fall in your category then! In this series of People Development, this
column is dedicated for women entrepreneurship. There are five crucial
questions you need to answer before you begin:
1. What are you passionate about
and interested in?
2. What would you prefer -
Working from home or otherwise?
3. What stops you from not doing
what you want to do?
4. What are the obstacles that are
under your control?
5. How much can you invest?
For a woman who decides to either
move to her husband's place after marriage or take a break after pregnancy or
for those independent women who love to explore and travel or those who just love
the comfort of their home, entrepreneurship is a way to lead a more meaningful
life doing the things you love and appreciate.
In Chhattisgarh, there's still a
dearth of women entrepreneurs. There are many areas where women can work. We
find that majority of the existing women entrepreneurs work in the areas of
production of Agarbatti, Pickle, Papad, Embroidery, Jewellery, Home-based
cooking and tiffin service, snack bars, small retail shops, beauty parlours,
tailoring, flower shops, etc.
Apart from this there any many
other arenas to explore like branding and logo designing, products with
customised printing, event management, Tuition and coaching centres, interior
designing, counselling, etc
The freelancing business is a
boon for women who can work as per their schedule taking care of deadlines and
quality deliverables. But for execution, skill development is prime and a non-negotiable
factor.
Before you begin any business,
identify the problem or challenge you want to address. Identify your customer base and decide on the
product or service you are going to deal with? Work on prototypes and run it
with your circle of influence and concern. Accept criticism and work on
finetuning your business with some unique features that makes it stand out in
the market.
Remember to start acting now,
there’s no ideal time to begin an enterprise but just the right intention and
for the right cause. Whether you want to work as a rural, social or urban
entrepreneur is your call, start looking for challenges!
