CHARITY SANS SYMPATHY

I remember the day when I was only 12 year old and lost my concentration when I was looking at a girl of almost my age climbing downstairs with braces on the legs. When I turned around to join my parents, I found I was left all alone and ran all around Thirupathi in search of my parents. Only after I found them I realized that I had not heard what they told me as I was completely engrossed on the subject, “THE STRUGGLE TO CLIMB DOWNSTAIRS BY A GIRL”.

That night I was thinking about the pain the girl would have gone through. I observed her face while she was climbing down. She was not bothered about how she moved or how elegant she walked, she was not bothered about anything except for one thought that she should climb down without falling. That moment I realized that with such a disability when a girl doesn’t want to be treated different, why should we treat them differently? Looking at them with sympathy or pity in our eyes only makes them feel lowly. This is what I felt after many acquaintances with the differently challenged people. All they want is a better treatment and care.

In the school (Velammal Mat. Hr. Sec. School, Chennai-50) where I studied, I was taught and explored to various extracurricular activities that included writing to ‘News to editor’ as well! My English teacher, Ms. Asha always insisted upon using simple words that anyone can read and understand and I always followed. I implemented the same idea while talking to the kids in Avvai illam, Adyar and Social Service Centre, Vandaloor. Believe me, kids are attracted when you talk to them in a very simple yet an expressive language.

My college (GCT, Coimbatore) was the place where I first developed a feel that I must contribute to serve the people in our society who are deprived. My friends and I joined hands and started V4U (we for you). Together we influenced children to go to school in Coimbatore and Chennai. After each of us got placed in various companies, we contributed to help those who’re economically backward. While I was working at iNautix, I found many geeks who were involved in social service and during training we also served at Avvai Illam, Adyar. At one stage, I learnt that if we don’t get registered as an NGO, we are nothing but an unorganized crowd who are at serving aimlessly. So, we worked towards getting registered and worked on smaller projects.

Today we have registered ourselves as ‘YOUTH BLISS PUBLIC CHARITABLE TRUST’
As the name suggests, we help the Youth achieve their dreams to replenish their happiness. Our Caption ‘The Strength of Mankind’ refers to the Primary duty of every member in the society to treat everyone equally and help them to be independent citizens. The outcome of this challenging task is ‘YOUTH BLISS’. We are a registered Public Charitable Trust in operation from June 2009. We believe that Uplifting of children’s life will result in prosperity of mankind.
YOUTH BLISS is built on the below quote,
"Charity is injurious unless it helps the recipient to become independent of it."
- John D. Rockefeller

YOUTH BLISS had heard its first-ever heart beat when we visited the home of destitute (in the month of September 2007 in Chennai). That was the first convergence of minds; as a consequence we noticed the beautiful smile that spread across those numb lips. We gathered momentum making the organization stronger by uniting eager minds and caring hearts that decided to construct the psychological monument head-along. Result "YOUTH BLISS"

We built our network through friends, families and relatives here in Chennai and we got great support both financially and morally to keep us going towards this noble cause. We did various projects and also attended certain charity fund-raising shows too.

We serve the
• Underprivileged Children who want to continue their education
• Educational institutions and other Non- Profit organizations in need of financial assistance for building construction, faculty, and other fundamental educational commodities like laboratory equipments, practical instruments and aids.
• We interact with physically challenged people and old age people with a pep- talk helping them upbeat the weakness.
• We serve the mentally challenged by conducting art workshops to foster creativity and encourage them to play simple games.

Dr.Vidya Durai, Head of Training Dept, iNautix reminds me ‘Character is what you’re in the dark!’ and when I met Nethrodaya’s Founder, Mr.Gopi, I realized how one can mould one’s character. They have inspired me a lot and I want to share that we should all think rationally before spending our hard earned money. Also, a few may donate eyes when they’re gone, perhaps the others can donate their eyes when they’re alive. Shocked? The possibility is very simple; it’s by reading out to the people by donating our eyes to their books, their requests...
A simple yet Powerful service.

Wonderfully crafted!

I never knew childhood memories could invoke such powerful emotional outbursts, as in the case with you. Even I have been aroused by awful incidences around me and anybody for that matter. But as mentioned earlier, it is just an outburst or a spur of the moment which just fades away in no time. It doesn't matter whether it's just that memory from your childhood 's keeping you motivated, all I could see is it's inherent in you and YouthBliss would definitely create a noticeable difference to the society around us.

All the best Pushpabagyam!
